Corrosion protection of equipment

Many corrosion protection methods have been developed and introduced for oil production and processing equipment and reservoir pressure maintenance systems. The most economically efficient method is application of oil field chemicals for corrosion protection.

Corrosion inhibitors
Scimol corrosion inhibitors supplied by MIRRICO have many properties which allow to single them out among analogue products.
1. Water soluble corrosion inhibitors (Scimol WS) are designed for corrosion protection of structure metal of oilfield equipment and pipelines of gathering and transportation systems of water-cut oil, and waste water systems and reservoir pressure maintenance systems.
Water soluble corrosion inhibitors Scimol WS have high affinity for water phase which provides reliable protection of metal surfaces within wide range of water cut of transported fluid.
2. Oil soluble corrosion inhibitors (Scimol OS) are designed for corrosion protection of structure metal of oilfield equipment and pipelines of waste water systems and reservoir pressure maintenance systems.
Oil soluble corrosion inhibitors Scimol OS are applied for corrosion protection of oilfield equipment, wells, pipelines of reservoir pressure maintenance systems and waste water systems. They form a continuous film of the corrosion inhibitor on the surface of the treated pipeline; this provides efficient corrosion protection of metal at high flow rates. They also have long-term aftereffect.
3. Water-dispersible corrosion inhibitors (Scimol WD) are designed for corrosion protection of structural metal of oilfield equipment and pipelines of gathering and transportation systems of water-cut oil, waste water systems and reservoir pressure maintenance systems.
Water dispersible corrosion inhibitors Scimol WD are applied for corrosion protection of oilfield equipment, wells, pipelines of oil gathering systems and turbulent flow water pipelines. They are highly dispersible and adhesive and provide reliable protection of metal surfaces within wide range of oil/water ratio of the transported fluid.

Application:
Continuous injection into the oil gathering system with the rate of 15-25 g/m3. Optimal injection rate is determined on the basis of field tests.

Oxygen scavengers
Deoxol oxygen scavenger of MIRRICO company is designed for removal (neutralization) of dissolved oxygen in fresh and mineralized water in pump stations suction lines, water supply flow lines, fresh and mineralized water pipelines for prevention of corrosion of oilfield equipment caused by presence of the oxygen in the system.
Advantages of Deoxol oxygen scavengers:
- perfect prevention of corrosion of metal structures in water media containing dissolved oxygen;
- high rate of reaction with the dissolved oxygen;
- stability during storage in airtight containers;
- excellent performance characteristics and lower injection rate.
Deoxol oxygen scavenger is developed on the basis of all modern requirements for oil production chemicals; this provides excellent performance and operational characteristics and guarantees best results.
Application:
It is recommended to inject oxygen scavengers into turbulent flow of the treated fluid continuously. Quantity of the injected scavenger is 8-12 mg per 1 mg of dissolved oxygen. Optimal injection rate is determined on the basis of particular process conditions.

Hydrogen sulfide and mercaptans scavengers
Hydrogen sulfide and mercaptans scavengers Asulpher supplied by MIRRICO company are designed for neutralization (absorption) of hydrogen sulfide and mercaptans in gas-oil-water systems during production, processing and transportation of oil. It can also be used for absorption of acid components from associated gases. Asulpher is an oil and water soluble product.
Hydrogen sulfide scavengers irreversibly interreact with hydrogen sulfide and mercaptans present in gas, water and oil phases, with formation of water soluble nontoxic products.

Application:
Continuous injection of hydrogen sulfide scavenger into the flow of the treated fluid is recommended. Quantity of the injected scavenger is 5-15 mg per 1 mg of dissolved oxygen. Injection rate is determined on the basis of particular process conditions, such as hydrodynamic regime and system temperature.

Biocides
Atren-Bio biocides supplied by MIRRICO company are designed for inhibition of growth of sulfate reducing bacteria which cause microbial corrosion of oilfield equipment. Besides the main application these biocides can be used for prevention of bacterial decomposition of organic drilling mud components and for bacterial treatment of well killing fluids.
Advantages of Atren-Bio biocides:
- high efficiency against planctonic and adhesive forms of sulfate reducing bacteria;
- effective removal of formed biofilms and prevention of repeated growth;
- do not contain pyridine compounds.
Application:
The product is normally applied during intermittent treatment of pipelines and equipment. The optimal concentration of the biocide depends on particular conditions and the level of contamination and is determined on the basis of laboratory tests. The recommended frequency of treatment is once a week for 4-6 hours with injection rate of 50-500 g/m3 of water.
